Measuring Immune Cell Activation With High Sensitivity ELISA

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a multifunctional cytokine that plays a crucial role in immune cell activation and the regulation of the immune response.

IL-6 is a central cytokine in the immune response, influencing the activation and differentiation of immune cells, mediating the acute phase response, and contributing to the pathology of various inflammatory and autoimmune conditions.

Effects on Immune Cells:

  • T Cells: IL-6 promotes the differentiation of naive CD4+ T cells into T helper 17 (Th17) cells, which are important for fighting extracellular pathogens and are involved in autoimmunity. It also inhibits the differentiation of regulatory T cells (Tregs), thus enhancing inflammation.
  • B Cells: IL-6 stimulates B cell differentiation into antibody-producing plasma cells and promotes the production of immunoglobulins.
  • Hematopoiesis: IL-6 influences hematopoietic stem cells and progenitor cells, supporting the production of various immune cells.

Acute Phase Response: IL-6 is a key mediator of the acute phase response during inflammation, inducing the liver to produce acute-phase proteins like C-reactive protein (CRP), which are involved in opsonization and pathogen clearance.

Pathological Involvement: Chronic overproduction or overexpression of IL-6 is associated with various inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and cytokine release syndrome. It also plays a role in chronic inflammatory conditions and some cancers.

What is an ELISA Assay?

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is an analytical, plate-based technique to detect and quantify the presence of a target analyte in a liquid sample using antibodies

IL-6 (human), high sensitivity ELISA Kit

The IL-6 (human), high sensitivity ELISA kit is a  colorimetric immunoassay kit that can measure as low as 0.057 pg/ml of IL-6, 10X more sensitive than competitors’ kits

  •  High-sensitivity ELISA enables quantification of 0.057 pg/ml  of IL-6
  •  Ready-to-use reagents and pre-coated plates reduce errors and save time
  • Easy-to-use liquid color-coded reagents reduce errors
  • Rapid quantitative results in 3 hours
  • High-throughput immunoassay measures up to 40 samples in duplicate per 96 well kit
  • Ready-to-use reagents and pre-coated plates reduce errors and save time

Entrust your precious samples, time, and research budget to ELISA assay kits from Enzo

Assay kits can be convenient time-saving tools to help accelerate your research, but not all assays are created equal. Some that promise convenience fail to deliver biologically relevant sensitivity, or the reproducibility needed for long-term studies. This can cost you more time and money in the end. Whether you use an ELISA assay for biomarker detection, assess cellular function with fluorescent probes, or screen enzyme modulators with activity assays, every Enzo assay kit includes something that other companies out there don’t have — experience, reliability and consistency.

It takes more than just an antibody pair to make an ELISA. Building an immunoassay requires screening multiple antibodies, selection of appropriate standards and conjugates, establishing proper sample prep protocols, and validation of the assay in relevant matrices. Our expertise in developing ELISAs is further backed by two decades of manufacturing excellence. Strict validation criteria and state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities deliver reproducible assays that continue to be cited in peer-reviewed publications by scientists around the world.

Enzo offers hundreds of ELISA Assays in both immunometric and competitive assay formats. Browse all ELISA Kits of Enzo. As scientists and manufacturers of kits, we understand the critical nature of your research. Each enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay is put through rigorous testing to ensure high precision, accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. You can be confident that you will obtain reproducible results, day after day, and lot after lot.
